Sandwich Pantry at St. Peter's Church, Sandwich Kent
The Sandwich Pantry is open at St. Peter’s church every Monday afternoon from 12 noon. Sandwich Pantry’s purpose is to offer quality food to local residents who are having difficulty affording food.
Sandwich Pantry will be supplied by FareShare, a national organisation fighting hunger and tackling food waste. It has been established to tackle food poverty, help with living costs and support local residents who would benefit from our service.
For as long as circumstances in our control enable us to Sandwich Pantry will take delivery of products from FareShare every Monday. Local residents who need the service are invited to become members of the Pantry.
Members will pay £4 a week which will enable them to select 10 products which would usually retail at around £15.
Ordinarily members will come to St Peters to choose their 10 products every Monday. This will remain the case unless Covid-19 restrictions limit entry to the Church. If this occurs we will prepare food parcels to best match our members' needs.
We aim to provide quality fresh and nutritious food, alongside a range of tinned, dried and other products to help. We hope that through our membership we can build a community of people who can be supported and provide support to others during these challenging times. Sandwich Pantry is run by its umbrella organisation, the not-for-profit company 'The Sandwich Social Supermarket CIC' and will be managed, in the first instance, by St Peter's Care and Share.
