Welcome to St. Peter's Church Sandwich
Situated on the south-eastern corner of England Sandwich is an ancient town and Cinque Port. Located in the centre of the town, St Peter’s church offers both locals and visitors alike a place in which to pause and draw breath while they reflect on the past, present and future of Sandwich.
A gem in the heart of Sandwich, St Peter’s Church still serves the community in which it stands.
Acting as a Community Hub, St Peter’s is a place to welcome local welfare organisations to host activities to the benefit of those who have need of them, and to attract new visitors to the building through enjoyment of its facilities.
Whether it is a coffee morning, or a place to find books and bargains from all the items donated to the Church, other organisations are encouraged to use the building too.
A local group, Nostalgic Sandwich, often use the church to mount photographic displays of Sandwich in former times when members can meet to discuss old times; the Thursday Sandwich Market overflows into the church with some traders using the area for their wares, and on High Days and Holidays, various and different activities take place.
The permanent Book Stall thrives, with old books recycled monthly, and we are grateful for the many book donations we receive and for the support of the donors in general.
Whilst it is now classified as a 'redundant' church, it remains consecrated and used for visitors to come and enjoy several hundred years of history through the monuments, architecture and stained glass windows.
Everyone is welcome between 10.00am and 3.00pm daily.
